THE FAIR 6 BRAND NEW TECH PRODUCTS ANALYZED BY LÚCID

LÚCID at IFA, The renowned show for innovation and product design in home appliances and consumer electronics, analyzes six new products for 2017.

As professionals passionate for design and innovation, we have a few main events highlighted in our calendars. IFA Berlin couldn´t be left behind, as it is one of the biggest windows to the future tech trends and the perfect opportunity for LÚCID to breathe from that fresh new 2017 trends.

Now back at the office, is time to embrace all that the show gave us and talk about 6 products that stand out from the rest:

1. NESPRESSO DESIGN UPDTES

During the show, Nespresso presented their most recent development: The Lattissima one coffee maker. With a well-balanced design where simplicity and elegance are the key elements; this coffee maker shows that Nespresso is renewing its concept design targeting an aesthetic based on rational lines and an updated look.

This product, designed for all “coffee and milk” lovers, integrates a new dispenser/system that help us add fresh milk to our coffee with just a touch.

Its compact design does not leave aside other key complementary functions like the quick 25 seconds warming or the automatic shutdown.

2. INTELLIGENT WASHERS

If we talk about industrial automation and UX design, one of the best examples we saw at the show was the Vestel Intellicare. This new concept from Vestel, has a series of sensors that detects weight, color and fabric type and based on that information, selects the best washing cycle. At the same time, includes a door opening assists to help us open the door just with your foot.

However, this wasn’t the only innovative product we saw at their booth as they were also presenting another washing machine with UV light that kills bacteria while washing your cloth.

3. WALL OF SOUND (Not the Spector sound)

There’s no doubt that one of the booths we were eager to see was the BANG & OLUFSEN one. As a design reference, we knew this booth was not going to disappoint us… and how right we were.

After their launch at this year Milan Design Week, the BEOSOUND SHAPE landed on IFA for the first time. Customizable and elegant, this Bluetooth wall speakers take the interior design and powerful quality sound to the next level.

4. LIGHT UP YOUR SOUND

SONY’s LED Bulb Speaker, although not the first, it’s an innovative and creative product that provides you with music in every room, and all you need to do is turn the light ON.

This speaker has no need for batteries or cables as it is already connected to your main power through the light sockets.

With 32 brightness levels and a wide color spectrum, this light/speaker can be controlled from an intuitive App.

5. DIGITAL ASSISTANTS

If we were to highlight a common factor around the show products, it will definitely be the Digital Assistants.

Amazons ´Alexa and Google assistant haven’t missed the chance to promote themself as the right choice for your new personal assistant through the new products presented at the show, and at the same time, show that they are now fully present in our lifes as well as Siri (Apple) and Cortana (Microsoft).

Without a doubt, is on the speaker’s field that we see how they are fully integrated. Aside from Harman and JBL news, SONY presented a small smart speaker with a warm design, 360 sound and able to listen and manage your daily tasks.

6. SGNL, CALLS WITH THJE TIP OF YOUR FINGER

SGNL is a smart watch strap that allows you to call by just putting the tips of your fingers on your ear. This successful Kickstarter project has multiply by 30 their goal promising a huge tech innovation and development on the communication and audio field.

However and despite their campaign success, once we tested their prototypes our disappointment took over our initial excitement. Indeed this isn’t going to be the first or the last crowd-funded project that fails after their initial success; but we do found contradictory to see such an innovative tech product, with more than 8000 backers, not reach their desired quality and still be presented at the show.

Nevertheless and like every year, we are back from the German capital with our pockets full of rewarding experiences. We saw mayor breaks on product innovation and new trends that for sure will make our designs richer and help to renew our ideas to keep innovating.
