Last October 2024, Barcelona became the epicenter of industrial design thanks to the celebration of Industrial Design Day (IDD), an event driven by Lucid_ and powered by JUNGLE. The event brought together professionals, brands, and design enthusiasts, and has established itself as a key meeting point in the sector. In 2025, it takes a qualitative leap by officially joining the Barcelona Design Week program, organized by the Barcelona Creativity Design Foundation, with Jungle as a Major Patron.
A Day to Inspire, Share, and Connect
IDD 2024 offered a program designed to explore industrial design from multiple perspectives. The day kicked off with a powerful opening keynote by Patrick Speck, Design Director at LIXIL Group, who shared his vision on the importance of designing for people—not for factories.
The morning continued with a live interview with Miquel Ballester, Head of Product Management at Fairphone, who focused his talk on circular economy and sustainable design.
After a networking brunch among attendees, the event moved into a series of short talks by leading voices in the sector:
- Damián Calvo (Revolut, former Dyson) emphasized the importance of understanding the user.
- Marc Capdevila (Kiska) discussed the brand’s creative partnership with motorcycle company KTM.
- Tiago Abreu (independent consultant) reflected on various elements of the design world.
- Raquel Alventosa (Redbility) championed storytelling as a way to explain their design processes.

Open Debate and Design with Perspective
In the afternoon, two panel discussions brought depth and dialogue to the event. The first explored the differences between designing within an agency vs. within a company, featuring professionals from HP, Accenture Song, Shad, and Wallbox.
The second panel tackled one of today’s hottest topics: how to approach design in the age of artificial intelligence, with expert voices from Nahtrang, Anima Design, Liquid Lab, and LaGranja.
Both panels provided a realistic, critical, and constructive look at the present and future of industrial design, reaffirming Lucid_’s commitment to the ongoing evolution of the discipline.

Coming Next: Bigger, Bolder, and with Greater Impact
This year, Industrial Design Day 2025 will take place on October 8th at Disseny Hub Barcelona, a new venue that allows for greater capacity and enhanced visibility. This new edition arrives with major news: IDD becomes part of the official program of Barcelona Design Week, a recognition that strengthens its role as a catalyst for contemporary industrial design.
At Lucid_, we continue to champion design as a driver of innovation, impact, and human connection. And this year, more than ever, we want IDD to be the place where all those forces converge.
